i've been struggling with my ball striking the last few weeks, i was hitting from the top, early release, scooping the ball, weight shift was terrible, it was a right old mess, then i got this tip on the range at Mauritius from a fellow ammie, "swing the handle not the club head"

i tried it, thought it was a load and concentrated on something else. then the guy called me after we came back and said "it works well doesn't it", i said, i your dreams dildo, i'm duffing everything then he explained it in more detail.

here goes, try it if your ballstriking is off. swing the handle not the club head, for it to work you must concentrate to swing the handle (grip) down at the ball with both hands, start slow, turn and all that junk, then on the way down, press the handle down in the direction of the ball and keep your posture, this keeps your'e hands ahead of the clubface, creates a descending blow, late release and all that junk you need to hit it crisp.

use it, don't use it....its the best quick fix i ever got.

Sounds very similar to a tip the asian dude on the Golf Bag or whatever the Nike show is called had the other night. Neither hand should dominate the swing.

Yeah D, he's got one or two basic and very simple swing thoughts. Easy to remember, and all focussed on rhythm.

It works definately. I had to build in a slight pause at the top to make sure I set the club exactly right - really more of an easy transition than a pause - and then everything just falls into place. Right elbow tucked in, hips clearing and lotsa power behind the ball.

yep, thats what it did for me as well, slowed down the transition from the top, it worked wonders for me and i hit it a club further.

Just went to the Pro Shop to drop off some stuff for Golf Development and decided to spend a few minutes on the Launch Monitor and try this out.

Also slowed the transition down a little and the difference was massive. While not wanting to use Launch Monitor statistics as the absolute truth, that will come on the course, what I really wanted to see was the path of the clubhead and the angle of attack.

The best thing about using this was my path which immediately changed from outside-in to inside-in. Angle of attack is a little too steep but it did change from an ascending scoop to a descending blow. Once again all based on a Launch Monitor which may be inaccurate. But this all looks promising.

The biggest shock came in the clubhead speed department where I have been battling to get a 5 iron much above 84mph. All of a sudden my range was between 89 and 97mph but averaging at 92mph for 15 swings of a 5 iron. That is 8 mph more clubhead speed (clubs were a Callaway X22 Pro Series with Project X 6.0 and Nike Tour with DGS400).

Even took a new Wilson Di9 5 iron off the shelf which has a 90gram steel shaft and clubhead speed with that was 101mph!!!! Shocked Shocked I have never swung a medium iron at that speed in my entire existence.

So initial views after hitting 30 - 40 balls in the net at the Pro Shop on the Launch Monitor looks really positive but we will see on Thursday when I get to play again.

I believe the big component here is the lag it creates.

glad it worked for you, i was amazed by the immediate result.

now if anyone have good putting tips, like how to read a green, how not to change your line while over the ball, how not to change your line while in the middle of the stroke, how to trust your ball position, distance from the ball, how to muster the courage to hit the short ones straight and firm and lastly how to get your lag putts within, i would like to say 1m, but 2m at this stage will do....... pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease!!!

When I read this, my immediate reaction before even seeing your solution was:

Go and buy another putter or 2.

You cannot think you have a putting problem until you have at least 20 putters. Until you have every type of putter available, there is a chance that the problem is equipment based rather than talent or skill based.
